My answer comes also out of the blue - not researched - maybe natur knows best because all the insects who pollenate the flowers are not able to recognize blue? You noticed my questionmark? It is just a wild guess.

There are all kinds of blue wildflowers. Blue is very common in the wild.

But there are blue flowers, not many, as most blues are purples, but there are some fine blues out there. Delphiniums are really spectacular with their blue spikes. Forget-me-nots are also a lovely blue carpet in the late springtime.
