  • In my opinion, it is the definition of idol worship. Thanks for pointing that out.
  • Yes. The cross is not meant to be worshiped, it is merely a sign/symbol (one of many) of Christianity. God commands not to worship any items/possessions or symbols. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, the cross did not die on Jesus for our sins...it was 2 pieces of wood that was usually just associated with death anyways. God, and Christianity represents and stands for life, always!
  • The cross is not worshipped. It is a symbol for Christianity. Much like the Star of David is a symbol for Judaism.
  • Yes it is. The worship of anything or anyone other than Yahweh God or Jesus Christ is idolatry.
  • Assuming that they worship the cross its self and not the boogeyman himself then yes.
  • Probably would be if anyone did? No one does.
  • Of course it is...and beyond that, Jesus isn't there anymore, and the whole Christian religion would have been a farce if the cross was the end of the story, go to the cross...but don't stay there.
  • Yes. Idolatry is divine worship given to an image, but its signification has been extended to all Divine worship given to anyone or anything but the true God. By definition, a Catholic praying before a crucifix to the true God or a Non-Catholic Christian praying before a cross to the true God is not idolatry. With love in Christ.
  • Sure it is. The cross is a man made object and by it's self would of be a form of an idol. Now, if you put Jesus on that cross and worship him, then it wouldn't be idolatry, because you're worshiping Jesus, and, isn't that what it's all about? Something like that.
  • I believe that the cross can be used in idolitry however it may not if you pray to the cross or through the cross to jesus or use the cross as your image of power as in when a movie shows someone using the cross to hold back a vampire then thats idolitry your giving the power to the cross if it is used only to remind you of the sacrafice and think of the love involved there then its not looking at a schwatztica ( dont know how to spell) doesnt make you a nazi it reminds you of the hate and murder unless you believe in the power of that icon then its idolitry
  • Yes if you are actually worshipping the cross. You should be worshipping God only. Wearing a cross is not worshipping it, usually that is an outboard symbol to the word stating that you worship God.
  • who worships it? i acknowledge it, even wear one to remember and show in whom i believe in.... but i really don't know anyone that 'worships' it...like the statues of Mary or something... i believe if it brings someone to Christ ,or to ask about Christ, or they feel closer to God in what they wear ,or eat or celebrate, like Jesus said,'leave them alone, they do no harm but u could make them stumble...and u really dont want that on your head....as long as it does not harm and may help others....leave them alone.... i wear one, my grandson draws them all the time ..so, if you want to call that worship...its your problem...but its not worshipping to me....
