  • Good question... there is just so much invested into Cancer research, they're finding new ways, but I just don't know...
  • Well I'm no expert but it may have something to do with the fact that cancer cells are, basically, human cells that have gone haywire. Since they're still human cells it's more difficult to develop a cure that will destroy them but will leave the "normal" cells unharmed. Besides, keep in mind that after all these years there's no cure for the common cold either.
  • One reason is that many of the cancer foundations or research companies aren't actually looking for a cure so much as they are looking for ways to treat the illness. Personally, I'd rather the effort be put into finding a cure rather than the treatment of symptoms.
  • It is probably something to do with the amount of money there is to be made out of treating it once it occurs. The same way as dentists are not keen on getting rid of tooth / gum disease and the police and legal systems are not interested in stopping crime.
  • Not all cancers are the same, sometimes the same cancer reacts differently to the same drugs. It's like trying to solve x=n, what can you do?
  • It's all about money and politics. Don't take this the wrong way, but AIDS research in the 80s derailed a lot of cancer funding. The funding for these sorts of illnesses is very political and 20 years ago the money was diverted from cancer to AIDS. It even happened with private money. People shifted from cancer causes to AIDS causes. It has started to come around since AIDS in the US hasn't been the pandemic like it was thought to be. (It's still bad, but cancer kills far more people than AIDS in the US.)
  • Many people believe there is ALREADY a cure for cancer and that it's the "drug" companies (who make a TON of money from drugs) that's preventing the disclosure of the cure!
  • I think the vast number of cancers that exist is the basic problem. There are also many causes for cancer and man is coming up with more in the chemical labs. Am I being naive to think that it's not the money? Are people really looking for a cure or are they after the money?
  • It is all about the money. if you notice, the US medical industry has not found a cure for anything since polio. what they do is try to find a TREATMENT. that way you will have to continue to purchase the drugs for the rest of your life. if they find a cure, they basically put themselves out of business. Also, the drug lobby has a law written that says that illness can only be treated by drugs.

  • Cancer isn't exactly a simple thing to cure, I wouldn't expect a 'cure' per se for another 30 or so years. It's easy to prevent though, just destroy every cell of every living thing on the planet.
  • because there is more money in treatment than there is a cure.
  • Here is some info about money spent on cancer research→ http://www.nci.nih.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/NCI/research-funding
  • It is a VERY simple formula ... CCI = Cancer Cure Income CTI = Cancer Treatment Income CRF = Cancer Research Funds (and donations) CCT = Cost of Cancer Treatment CCI < (CTI + CRF) - CCT SO, until the CURE creates more income than TREATMENT, this will always be :-)
