  • No. Stats for cancelled games do not become official. Therefore, whenever you hear of a game being played in which some nominal record has been set, you should keep in mind that this is a PROVISIONAL record. That is, it's a record "provided that the game is official". Games that are called early will have statistics become official "up to the point that the game was called". So, for example, if the visiting team was leading 6 - 5 after the bottom of the sixth inning was completed, and then set some kind of offensive record in the top of the seventh ... but the bottom of the seventh was never played, and the game called off, retroactive to the sixth inning, then all of the top-of-the-seventh offensive numbers become void. If the game is "continued", as many games in a state like this might be (or when a lead changes or the game is of great importance to standings near the end of the season), then the statistics are still "provisional", but more likely to reach official status as the intent to complete nine innings has been demonstrated.
