  • try to stay stress free and drink alot of tea
  • Massage the temples
  • Tanning - sounds dumb but it works!
  • drink a big glass of water
  • You can try a warm rag or hot water bottle to help relax the muscles, take a rag and soak it with hot water, rinse out and apply it across your forehead. That's also good for when you have neck pain along with the sinus headache. You can also try to breathe in steam. hope this helps.
  • take a hot shower
  • You should visit your dentist about sinus headaches, as the root of your teeth could be involved with this problem. Also, moving from one temperature to another quickly (such as being outside in cold weather, then going into a shop or a mall) can trigger sinus headaches.
  • I'm not really sure what a 'home remedy' is but there are a few natural remedies that can help: Try feverfew for the migranes, they are caused by capilaries in your head dilating, feverfew keeps them open. Try eucalyptus or pepermint oil in a steam inhalation for the sinus headaches. Or a garlic suplement for excess mucus, Try taking a multivitamin too, make sure it has B-vits in as these help to feed the nerves, stress could be the source of the headaches. Try to eliminate all caffine, dairy, high suger + fat foods from your diet. Even if this is only for a short period of time, these are known to cause headaches although you could be alergic to them, or some other food. Also make sure you eat properly, regular high fibre low fat foods are good. A slump in your blood sugar levels can cause headaches hope this helps x Edit: Don't use a steam inhalation if you have asthma.
  • I suffer from sinus headaches also. I found a great product called Arbor Oil it is 100% eucalpytus oil. It opens up the sinuses and works great. I have also found for any headache in general to take a towel roll it up and put it in the microwave to create moist heat apply it to the forehead. Breathing in steam from the tea kettle or shower has helped me also. There is a pressure point on your temples that when rubbed in a circular motion may help the headaches. Hope you feel better!
  • dark(realy dark), cold, and noiseless room.
  • The simplest answer I can give you is don't think about it. Honestly, it works. I know it's hard to do, but find something that will distract you from the headache, and it will go away in no time. It's worked for me before, and it may just work for you.
  • I normally use some kind a pain killer, but if i don't have access or during the wait for it to kick in I will get a VERY COLD rag and lay in bed in the dark with it over my forehead.
  • It's hard to describe a remedy for all headaches. I get a headache when there's some kind of pressure on my neck or when I turn my head suddenly. I find that a hot shower helps in this case. Maybe because a muscle is involved and a hot shower helps relax it.
  • Drinking caffeine.
  • I would take something for pain, over the counter meds such as Ibuprofen helps any inflamation. Also try and drink some caffene that opens the blood vessels, then rest in a quiet room. You can either use ice or heat, whichever you find is more confortable
  • Have you tried gently rubbing your temples, sometimes that helps to reduce a headache for me (of course if you have a terrible headache this may not work). Also, hop off the computer and sit in a darkened room so you are not getting as much stimulus.
  • Ice packs help. Pinching/massage. the bundle of nerves between you thumb and index finger can help. A nap helps. Mush depends upon the cause.
  • Hydrate Sit still or lie down (to slow heart rate and lower blood pressure) Take a hot shower (the steam will help if it is a sinus headache) Lower or dim the lights, turn down the sound on TV or stereo. Take long, slow deep breathes.
  • I get head aches sometimes if I'm on the computer to long. Sometimes just laying there with my eyes closed or sleeping helps me feel better.
  • Lots of water, avoid direct sunlight or flickering light (also try not to focus your eyes on things that require visual concentration such as reading a computer screen) and also deep breathing. Some headaches can be brought on by a lack of oxygen. So some calm deep breaths. Also, try doing something else - diversion can help reduce a headache or even cause it to disappear.
  • A lot of times it helps to just go to a quiet and dark room and relax and meditate for about a half hour to an hour. If that doesn't work I recommend laying down for a while or a nap.
  • Hit your thumb with a hammer.
  • I find relief from an early headache by squeezing my earlobes. It is an acupressure point I'm told. It feels good to shift my fingers against the earlobe at various points. There is one point which has a higher density which seems to be most responsive when squeezed.
  • Relaxation can help. Laying down in a quite place might relieve a stress headache. Caffeine can sometimes relieve headaches, but don't overdo it because you will suffer from a rebound headache. This doesn't qualify as not "taking anything" unless you don't consider coffee a thing. Try simple accupressure. Breath deeply and evenly and slowly, lightly rub your temples in circles with your forefingers. Press and hold the inside of your wrists with your thumb and forefinger. The earlobe pressure point might work as well.
  • Different things work for different kinds of headaches: Sinus - steam (and if you're not opposed to non-medicinal remedies: saline nose drops and vapor rub on your chest). Run a vaporizer. Tension - Quiet, dark room with fresh air. Caffeine withdrawal - small quantity of caffeine. Dehydration - water and water only. Migraine - Quiet, dark, sleep. Throw up if you feel like it as it actually helps. Spinal - chiropractic adjustments can actually relieve pinched nerves and alleviate headaches.
  • This is from the NewScientist magazine, it says that sex may ease your migraine.
  • Take a small break if possible. Rest your eyes. I don't know if Coffee counts as medication to you, but I know it dilates the blood vessels in your system (and brain) improving circulation and some relief.
  • Drink plenty of water and rest.
  • sometimes a lotion with Lavendar will help.
  • Cut your head off...lol. ermmjust take 5, look around, drink pleanty, some fresh air also helps me most of the time, and a good nigts sleep
  • I haven't tried this, but apparently if you drink a bottle of Gatorade it will get rid of a headache quickly.
  • sometimes an ice pack on the back of the neck works for me, that and massaging the temples in a circular motion
  • Well a nice neck massage helps, or a temple massage... Cigarettes work too, even though they are gross If nothing else, a few brews kills the pain :)
  • Ice pack, fresh air, rest eyes, massage, drink water all have worked for me.
  • When you get a headache, blood rushes to your brain I believe. I have heard some say that you can do something to shift the blood into a different direction and that would help the pressure a bit.
  • sleep, food, n fluids always worked for me.
  • roll up a towle and place it on the back of your neck and lay on the floor if your neck is out that will help. Also get a cool wash rag and lay it over your forehead and eyes. Try and take a break for a momnet in a dark room with no noise.
  • Scalp massage is wonderful to ease a headache. You may even be able to find a salon that will do it for about $15 bucks for 20 minutes. It's amazing how much tension we have in our face and scalp. If you don't want to go to a salon you can just do it yourself but it's not as relaxing that way. And don't forget your mouth and around your eyes; you'll be surprised at the relief you'll get from gently massaging those areas. I hope you feel better.
  • bang your head on a book, or wall or something for a good hour or so. then, you won't feel anything because you're either numb, unconcious, out-of-it, or dead. but hey, no drugs were used! ;P word of warning: this effect is not permanent (unless your dead, in which case, your headache will never come back)=)
  • Drink plenty of fluids... most times I get a headache it's due to dehydration.
  • It is possible to relieve the symptoms of a tension headache by putting pressure on the nerve between the thumb and forefinger of either hand. Applying steady pressure to this widely acknowledged acupressure point for just about one minute has the effect of relieving the tension in the neck muscles and alleviating the symptoms of a tension headache in no time flat!
  • Smash your big toe with a hammer. Ok, you won't actually get rid of the headache, but you'll forget about it pretty damn quick.
  • try hydrating and having an orgasm.
  • Ice, time, coffee, sleep, shower or hot bath
  • Lie down, draw the curtains, drink some cold water, even get a cold flannel to put on your face maybe. Just try to relax and lie down. Take some paracetamol or ibruprofen.
  • When I have bad headaches(migraines)I always have a sensitivity to things with a strong smell. Like mexican food. Makes the headache worst and makes me want to throw up. As soon as i do throw up my migraine vanishes. Its just does. So I try to smell things like that just to throw up. It really helps.
  • It could be a tension headache, caused by the neck muscles pulling on the back of the head. If so, you can stretch those muscles to relax them. Bend your head forward, put hands behind head, gently push to bend your head farther forward and down. Keep doing this even though it's boring and uncomfortable.
  • Drink water and ice the inside of your hand between your thumb and pointer finger.
  • Go ro sleep.
  • Smoke two Tasty Joints, get some ZZZs, and call me in the morning.
  • i suffer migranes too, i find if i lay in a dark room with a cold flannel on my forehead and eyes that helps sooth the pain, you poor thing i really know what migrane feels like NOT NICE hope it will clear soon for you.
  • I do not know if there is a home remedy, but in my case almost all headaches that I get, I can get rid off with Tylenol. I'll take 2 and if half hour later I still feel with a headache I take two more and again wait another half hour and if I still have a headache I take two more. I have never had to take more than 4 to 6 in a 2 to 4 hour period for the headache to start to die down. However I have friends whose headache only goes away with Advil. I do not want to give the impression that I take an excessive amount of Tylenol, but in those occasion that I have had this situation it has been ok for me. Meaning it has worked for me.
  • Lie in a dark room with a cloth soaked in vinegar solution across your forehead. Try it, it works, really!!
  • Try EFT. THere is a free manual explaining how to do it below: http://www.emofree.com/ I know it sounds and LOOKS weird to tap yourself but it really works. Here's a good video that demonstrates it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv8Ki9_Jk-w
  • my chiropractor told me to tap all over my forehead with a finger a hundred or so times...
  • Tylenol and a cup of caffeinated coffee.
  • Cinnamon is a great natural anti-inflammatory. Sprinkle it on some toast, use a table spoon of it in some tea, etc.
  • i get migraines a LOT so i've tried everythign under the sun. HEre are a few that work 1) on you hand in the area between your thumb and index finger - squeez with a fair amt of pressure. It's apressure point and can eliviate some pain withing 20 min or so 2) take a towel, fold it length wise and roll it up so you get a good sized tube roll. Get a bag of frozen veggies (corn or peas work best) or if you have one of those jelly ice packs put it on top of the towel role and cover it with a hand towel. lay down on it (on the ground not bed)with your neck on it.. but tilt your neck back (so the top of your head is touching the ground almost and you can see the wall behind you). Lay there for like 20 min and relax. This one REALLY works well. 3) coffee.. really strong. 4) big glass of very cold water (most headaches are due to dehydration)
  • I just foun dout! To calm down a bit and not feel bad but it doesnt get it away lie down in a dark room. But the instint u get it have some of those pain remover pills. They help alot.
  • take a 5 or 10 lb brick...drop on foot. no headache, ha. sorry cant think of anything better than the other answers
  • as crazy as it may sound try opening up your freezer door and breath in through your nose and out through your mouth the cool air. this will allow the blood that is causing the throbbing to stop.
  • stick a fork in your leg, you wont even think about the headache
  • one way that could help a lot is to just reduce the amount of stimulation you have going on, go to a dark room, avoid noise, light, your computer, etc. another thing is aroma therapy, i know there are some scents that help calm and sooth you or just make sure you take less medication... i suffer from severe headaches but i have taught myself to react to one pill just as well as most people react to two or more pills.
  • Go to sleep.
  • I don't know of any natural medication but I'd take a nap.
  • Acupressure helps!!!
  • Try EFT, this kind of tapping. It can relieve migraines easily andn it's free to learn. YOu can get the info at the main website here:http://www.emofree.com/ And here's a video of a lady doing EFT, to show you how to do it. But download the FREE manual at the website to really find out what you are doing.
  • water, lots of water
  • i nice relaxing hot bath sooths my headaches
  • Getting enough sleep, exercising, and eating a balanced diet. It may also help to get your work done ASAP so that you have time for relaxation afterwards.
  • not focusing to much on anything in particular, sleep or just relaxing usually helps for me. but I hate having headaches, especially migrains, everything you think of doing or so to stop it just feels worthless cos it's like there's no way out at the time you have a headeache.
  • Coffee and sometimes Sleep can help get rid of headache
  • Slow down and relax, perhaps tea or coffee. Get away from electronics, noises and distractions.
  • Go to sleep.
  • phosphorus helps... so does lavender and peppermint oil rubbed on the forehead
  • Often headaches are caused from dehydration. If that's the case, several glasses of water should alleviate it.
  • Yeah! Do you remember how uncle Fester would get rid of his!
  • There are plenty of ways. Make sure that their is no tv or video games or anything like that around. Taking a nap usually helps. but not to long or you wont be sleepy at night and if you watch tv your sight part of your brain(in the very front) will squees together and produce hedachs. You need something that will relax you go lay outside in the grass. If you pop your neck it can squees a nerve and send little shocks to your brain to tell you that your neck hurt when it feels like you have a headache. So just relax. See ya
  • Between your thumb and index finger is a muscle- its a pressure point called "still water". If it is tight, massage it until it relaxes. It could hurt. It will get rid of your headache.
  • Rest and Water
  • On your hand in the V at the base of your thumb and forefinger, pinch on the muscle using your thumb and forefinger of the other hand and rub in circular motion, not too hard but a reasonable amount of pressure. It works for me but I have no idea why. As for migraines, keep a log of your diet and see if there is any correlation between what you eat and when you get the migraine. The most common causes are , cheese, chocolate and coffee.
  • Decapitation by a force of nature.
  • Easy, do U recall how Uncle Fester used 2 get rid of his headaches!!
  • Coffee, or whatever version of caffeine you prefer.
  • ACUPRESSURE. READ THE BOOK "QUICK HEADACHE RELIEF WITHOUT DRUGS" SAVED ME A LOT OF PAIN. GOOD LUCK.
  • My wife covers herself in Vicks and hot towels. Wait.. what were we talking about here???
  • Aside from quiet, dark and sleep, what works best for me: Periodic chiropractor visits A HoMedics Neck massager Soothanol X2 My Dad gave me this holistic oil called "Soothanol X2" from Northstar Nutritionals. It is sold as a muscle and joint pain reliever. I've used it on migraine pain in my neck and temples, as well as musclejoint pain in my knee. Hubby's also used it on his back. It is really expensive (about $50 for a 1 ounce bottle or there are discounts for ordering in multiple) but it lasts forever. I've barely put a dent in my bottle over this past year and my husband uses it too. Well worth checking out. Works better than pills and sure beats barfing! http://www.northstarnutritionals.com/p/Soothanol_X2.htm Does this mean it was migraines and not Postural Hypotension?
  • I use ice packs on my forehead while I lay in a dark room. Any pills tend to make me sick to my stomach.
  • one thing you need to do is keep a journal to first find what your trigger is for your migraine, as many people have different ones could be a type of food you eat could be something you are using to wash with as in soap, body or cloths could be stress I think you get the picture, if you keep a journal for at least 30 days that is if you get them on a regular basis say every day or every few days, you should be able to pin point something or things that are triggering or making them worse. Then along with some remedies and working around the items that you found that trigger you can reduce the migraines. I will not say make go away because I don't feel that is always possible, as I have been down that road for almost 6 yrs with extreme migraines only my trigger is stress not much I can do but keep my life simple as possible and found a hobby. Feverfew is one of the few herbs that I know of for them, my chiroprator told me about it, and Melatonin for sleep
  • A drop of Lavender oil on both temples and base of neck, helps some people.
  • Sit Still, Lie Down or Sleep and drink approximatly 2 pints of water in an hour or so. fizzy pop does not help because of the caffeine inside of it. maybe one tea or coffee in about 2 hours is fine if you dont want to go asleep, because the strength will keep you awake. headaches are also common when you have a cold, flu, tonsilitus and many other common illnesses. Keep a bucket or bowl beside you if your wanting to throw up, it may feel better but you dont want to be cleaning sick up after your headaches gone. Breath in Through your nose and out through ur mouth all the time, or even sit on your floor and meditating will make it better.Hope this is helpful.x.lisa.x
  • Advil, or something like that
  • I have them very often The only thing that I found that will ease the swelling and pain is Ibuprofen and Advil cold and sinus tablets. Never lay down when your swelling with sinus pressure even if you are medicated it never seems to work.
  • pull ur brain off and put it into ur wardrobe, before u leave, honestly
  • dark quiet room, cover eyes with wet rag and don't move. Fall asleep. Usually helps. Really hot shower with water on the back on your neck helps some but with a true migraine you will be nauseous and really sick so u will have to lie down and be quiet and still with dark room
  • try listening to nature sounds on a cd.. like with rain storms and such.. also a hot bath? you can try a soda with caffeine.. that really helps me with my headaches and migraines.. try stretching also.. i hope this helps :]
  • Just whatever you do - DON'T LISTEN TO THE VOICES!!!
