    Very positive. If it wasn't for the drive of Abraham Lincoln the union would have been divided, instead the United States was preserved.
    The Emancipation Proclamation was an ultimate goal and through his strong support of the 13th amendment slavery was abolished.

    He stood strongly behind his decisions through tremendous opposition and many death threats. He was exceedingly brave and never once thought of giving up.

    He may have been A Republican then, but in today's Republican Party, he wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in heck.
