  • I don't think they should be arrested, but taught.
  • Yep. Unless the child has a disease that interferes with his weight.
  • child neglect? ummmm no. Theres no neglect there. Only over-indulgence. What they ought to do is force these parents to take nutrition classes, join a gym and force these kids into maintaining a healthy weight otherwise the parents should pay a fine. Once it starts hitting their wallets they'll think twice about buying that kid some more little debbies.
  • Depends: Is that child 5'8" and 200 pounds? Because that's pretty close to what I was when I was 10. My mom even took me to the doctors to have me checked out, apparently they found nothing too wrong with me.
  • I think it depends my sisters daughter is a little over weight but very tall for a niine year old child my sister dosent let her over eat and she has been seen by doctors but its the way she is and they cant explain why maybe its just puppy fat?but my sister looks after her so no i dont think all parents should be arrested until they look into the case very carefully.
  • Tough question. It always makes me apprehensive when we start interfering with parental rights, but I guess it depends on a comprehensive definition of what constitutes "abuse." At what point should childhood obesity be considered abuse? (weight, BMI, high cholesterol...)
