Reading is an act of interpretation in itself... it is not possible to have an authoritarian interpretation of scripture. But even if it were, advocating incest is clearly not the purpose of the text. Much of what's in the Bible is narrative, they should be read beginning to end to get the point. Unfortunately both religious and non-religious people pick and choose certain parts while ignoring the larger context and therefore, I feel, miss the point.

The wonderful thing about the bible is that the so-called Christians can adopt the warm and fuzzy passages while skipping over the ugly ones. They also can pick and choose what they follow or don't

Makes me wonder about those who continue to patronise Red Lobster in direct defiance of the commandment by god proclaiming eating shellfish as an abomination. Or why so many adulterers don't get stoned to death?

Just because the Bible mentions sin doesn't mean it recommends it. Sheesh!
