We would never have made it through two chemo patients at the same time if he didn't, or if I didn't comfort him. We made a pact to watch one another carefully and to keep one another's spirits up all through that dark time. I can always tell when he is down and I don't let up until he talks. He does the same for me. We don't let negativity in the house. It gets checked at the door. For a long time, we refused to even allow the news on in the house. And we made a pact that we can't both be down at the same time. One of us has to suck it up and comfort the other, usually the one that has gone the longest without a turn.
