As with any minority group that has had to (and many still do) fight for been treated equally as a citizen, unfortunately, it will continure. There will always be ignorant, backwards-thinking bigots who seem to think only certain people should have rights while others are denied them. The more they try to take away rights, the harder those of us denied those rights will fight back to gain them.

no...this nonsense will continue until the end of time. No one wants to appear to make a legal ruling that is too radically far left or right. Certain political stigmas get attached unfortunately and the media just spins it to how they feel that day.

See what happens when you live in a place where the Terminator is the governor?

It will end in equal rights. It always eventually does. Society has been on a slow march toward that throughout time. Even little children know what is and isn't fair.
-
Yes, it will end eventually. I believe it is a generational issue. The younger generations are more tollerant of non-traditional families.

Well, California has one of the most easily-ammended constitutions.

It make take another 100 years but it will happen. The problem with opressing people is you get tired, they never will.

Because this is a "states rights" (10th Ammendment) area and not a federal area, it is one that each state must deal with. The Federal statute says there shall be no discrimination by age, race, religious affiliation, sex nor sexual orintation. As long as a state follows these guidelines there is no conflict. Also the federal law requires a seperation of church and state. California and any other state banning anything based on the items I have stated is in violation of federal law. The general public did vote and the vote was to ban same sex marriage. This should have never been brought to a vote as the very ballot issue was in violation of federal mandates. Being a Christian myself, I do not hold with those whom wave banners saying marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman; I dare any of them to show me from the KJV Bible where it says this. The following will explain the further: http://www.libchrist.com/bible/oneflesh.html http://www.libchrist.com/bible/cleve.html As long as a governmental office issues marriage licenses they cannot refuse to issue a marriage license to ANYONE going to that agency by federal law. It is that plain and simple. A church has the right to refuse to perform the marriage ceramony and some still do with opposite sex couples because they were divorced from another spouce. Civil marriages performed by a government agency cannot refuse to perform the marriage as long as that marriage does not violate federal statutes knowingly. Until the "religious right" quits following their "church church laws and dogma" and follows the Bible by not taking verses out of context to suit their particular needs this problem will continue to exist.
