haha...thanks pal :) when my mom handed it to me this morning i felt like i was holding a hand grenade! just wanted to chuck, duck and cover :)

Batteries CAN do scary things when they go bad.
They are generally vented well enough that explosions are fairly rare, though not unheard of. More often, they overheat and damage whatever they are in/on. That includes your hand (if a cellphone) or your lap (for a laptop computer)... or sometimes your house if you happen to have it indoors near anything flammable, like furniture. I melted the frame on one of my old R/C cars that way once. I yanked the battery pack out, threw in into the parking lot and let it sit there for a few hours. Never blew up, but it left a nice scorch mark on the pavement.
woah...it honestly is a real concern! I recieved a mail not too long ago about a guy who's phone exploded while it was on charge and he answered it?! pics were nasty.
