  • Alka Seltzer and film canisters (or similar) make for easy, home-made "rockets." SEARCH: http://www.google.com/search?q=alka+seltzer+rocket SAMPLES: http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiment/00000068 http://www.funology.com/laboratory/lab041.htm
  • match rockets or pottasium nitrate rockets or just real rockets :)
  • If all you want is to get to 20 feet, then I would suggest a water bottle rocket. You can do a Google search for plans to build one and the launcher. However, to put is simply, you use a 2 liter soda bottle that is filled about 1.3 full of water and then you use an air compressor to put air into the bottle under pressure. While it is on the launch pad with the neck down. When released, the pressurized air forces the water out the bottom, creating thrust which lifts the bottle rocket into the air. These can be fun and not particularly dangerous. I once helped a bunch of Cub Scouts build and launch them at a camp out that the were having.
