You can hear them. You just don't realize it. If your favourite band were to play your favourite song without the bassist, then you'd definitely hear the difference. Just because it's a subtitle one doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Hope this helps.

When I listen to a band, I don't hear anything except for the singer; but the singer alone doesn't make the band. Just because you can't hear them, doesn't mean they don't make a valuable contribution.

Music's just not music without bass! It's thin, reedy & tiny & just sounds dreadful, it'd be like eating fish & chips without the chips... just wrong! Believe me if you tune your hearing into bass you'll hear it on every track!

Is their a problem with your ears? Sure you can hear and feel the bass. You either have a cheap stereo system or a hearing problem. Or, maybe you have been listening to the wrong music. So loud, that all you are hearing is noise. Try listening to some jazz or early rock and roll slow songs. The bass is there.

I listen to Level42... their Bass playing is the most outstanding that makes me listen to them. I don't understand bass, but I enjoy their music so much.

The bassist is there for the drummer and the drummer is there for the bassist. They set the timing of the music.

The bassist contributes to the 'backround' noise, and if you didnt have him you would definitely feel like there was something missing. Bass is there to add 'substance' to the music and to give it texture. I actually really like hearing the bass in the foreground of the music :)

My friends would tell me for timing also. Without base the music would sound hollow and lopsided...kinda like the white stripes.
