simple... its called good manners and being polite
-
Because it's called being polite. I hold open doors for people of either sex.
-
I see it as just being polite. I'm female, and I hold the door open for both genders...especially if they are older, disabled or have their hands full.
-
I hold the door open for women all the time and by time period is the 1990s.
-
yeah, its 2009 and not much decency left...but its not all the man's fault...its the fault of women libbers...:)justme
-
Because it is a nice gesture. I do it for men all the time, and it's not because I think they're transsexual or that we are in a universe where gender roles are both outdated and entirely inverted, or anything.

This question has been answered many times on AB. Holding doors for someone is a nice thing to do for someone, regardless of gender. I hold doors open for men all the time.

What he's saying is why should we treat women any differently than we do men anymore? If we wouldn't hold the door (or whatever) for a man in a given situation, why should we do so for a woman in that same situation? Feminism killed all of that as a blanket rule. My rule of thumb is, if I wouldn't do it for a man, I don't do it for a feminist. Fortunately, I seldom have to deal with feminists, so I still defer to and open doors for ladies out of politeness, and they appreciate it.

I am a woman and I have held many doors open for men and I have had them held open for me by other men and women also. It is just good manners, and being considerate of others. It's one of those little things that make a day better for both of the people involved. Add up a lot of these little things, and (pardon my cliche) the world becomes a better place to wake up to in the morning.
