it's a very easy repair, just replace the light engine assy - however this part is almost 2,000$ in most models so you might think about calling sony c/s and checking if the part is still covered under any warr - many have been extended 2 or 3 years depending on model
My Zenith CRT TV Model B27A11Z with a converter box has horizontal black lines varing widths across the middle an lower half of the picture.
