You've probably just made it worse. Go to the emergency room and have them do it. It could develop into a serious problem.

I know this sounds a little gross (but the whole situation is gross) -- but strike a match and have someone hold it as close as possible to the tick without burning your skin. For some reason, the heat makes the tick release its jaws and it falls off. (I grew up in the rural South -- so when I was a kid, this kind of thing happened all the time. What I just described is my great-grandmother's solution. I've never seen it not work.) But the suggestion to seek medical attention is a good idea. (And put the tick in a plastic bag or something and take it with you.) Lyme Disease is showing up with more and more frequency, and the earlier it's caught, the better off you'll be. Good luck!
