The "Internationale." :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internationale Oh, okay. I also like "La Bamba" and any German Christmas carol, such as "Stille Nacht" ("Silent Night"). Until he changed his name and started supporting the subjugation of little girls and women, I liked "O Caritas" by Cat Stephens, sung in Latin, enough to memorize it. Speaking of Latin, "Adeste Fidelis" ("O Come All Ye Faithful") is very nice; and ummm... let's see... "Ave Maria," also in Latin. I also like "Gol-e Yakh" ("Ice Flower") by Kristen Lems, sung in Persian (Farsi), but you can't fnd it on CD. :( Here's a fuzzy video of an Iranian performer singing a much slower version: http://www.iranian.com/Nostalgia/2005/April/ky.html "Ya Ba Ye" by the late Ofrah Hazah is terrific; sung in Hebrew. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ofra_Haza I'm nuts about Shakira and couldn't possibly pick out just one of her Spanish songs.

Rasa sayang-e from Indonesia/Malaysia. It is a traditional song of enjoyment where people can create new verses on the spot or draw from a wealth of well-known ones to convey a particular feeling, then everyone joins in the chorus. It uses a traditional form of poetry called the pantun, a four lined poem, where the third and fourth lines reflect the first and second in form , but the meaning is in the last two lines only. eg Kuda muda kua kereta Sudah tua jadi tunggangan Masih muda main mata Sudah tua jadi tunangan (the young horse is a daught horse when he gets old/er he is for riding when you are young you make eyes when you get old/er you get engaged)

I guessed that when you said 1963 that your choice would be Sukiyaki. It has such a beautiful and melancholy melody. I guess mine is Rayando el Sol by Mana:

I never had a non-English song favorite. I was always annoyed by not knowing what the lyrics were saying, so it always spoiled the music for me. I heard the Sayonara song over and over and over and over again on the radio back then when I was fourteen. It was a prety sound, but still annoyed by the lyrics. I always liked to sing along with lyrics o the radio, and this would be impossible for me.

My favorite non-English song is a Mandarin Chinese song which when translated is entitled "The Moon Represents My Heart" - 月亮代表我的心 made popular by the late Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng. Just listen to the song:

I like this one here. It's pretty cool for slow dance with a lovely lady. "Quien Eres Tu?" ("Who Are You?") by Nelson Ned(a guy from Brazil from the '70s, I think)

This was such a hard choice! Mine is not old, its from 06 or 07. Its called 'Drømmer jeg?' which is 'Am I Dreaming?' Male sings in Danish, Female sings in Swedish. I love it because in the sound theyre in separate countries and i can relate to it xD Like the song mentions 'I miss your Swedish kisses' and how 'It;s x miles to Copenhagen' very sweet song ^^

"Schnappschuß (ein Familienfoto)" "Und durch den Draht" "Spiel ohne Grenzen" "Du bist nicht wie wir" "Ein normales Leben" "Biko"
