You can't be serious...talk about reaching...

Extension would come out of your garage/house... then put back after overnight charging. I imagine, parking lots might have 'coin' electric chargers (with the same retractable cords used for air/water pumps in gas stations), for a boost, or recharge (+ $$)... it would be good business for the country, and the earth's environment as less oil gets processed! cool...

I'm not suggesting people will drive with extension cords still hooked up, but in a large community if everyone or even half the residents use electric how will we deal with extension cords running through everyones front yard, apartment complexes, parking lots, etc. Obviously not everyone has a garage and if you park on the street a cord will have to reach your vehicle somehow. This would cause fire hazards the likes of we haven't seen since electricity was first widely available not to mention how unsightly it could become and all the whiners who would undoubtedly whine either way because they don't like how it looks. So..has anyone drawn up any plans for this issue yet? Or is the electric vehicle thing just another farce that will not become reality, but just another pipe dream concocted while another oil glut takes place and more large SUVs and big cars are mass produced yet again?

It was decided a long time ago (in a land far, far away) that the extension cords could not be longer than 100 miles, and the reason for that was because if the police were chasing you and were very serious about catching you, that the extension cord (with various colors for each individual vehicle) would leave a highly visible TRAIL (for easily following you), and that the cops could either UNPLUG you (bringing your vehicle to an immediate halt) or, depending on how dangerous they considered you to be, CUT the cord at any time, interrupting your power supply.
