No, I wouldn't bother the admin for that. I looked at both your questions and you made no mistake and did nothing wrong and certainly didn't merit being DR'd. Along with the good people, AB has attracted the bad as well, unfortunately. There are some mean spirited types here that are malcontent and love to go around starting trouble and dishing out the downrates, for no other reason than they can. It's actually normal to get the odd -1 or -2, once in awhile. Those are from newbies that think it's their duty to judge. Forget about them. When you see that you are getting a lot of DR's repeatedly, you have attracted a troll or two. That's something you should use the feedback for and ask the admin to look in to it. The chances are the troll will be put in the penalty box. If they re-offend they will get their account nuked.

Ice Man, Thank you so much. I received notifications on these (and others I think) that said minus (-) points and said "not helpful." I wasn't sure what was wrong. Thanks for looking at them! We had plenty of trolls at MSFT QnA but they did not have any downrating ability there in the way that they do here. I appreciate your time and counsel and I will try to behave!!!

Thanks, Rosie! I completed it and will see what happens. Someone had asked a question who really needed some help. I spent a lot of time assembling the components for them, to give a complete answer. When I finally posted my answer I received a message that the question was pulled down for being "nonsense." While it was lacking a question mark and could have been much better constructed, I have seen soooooo much worse here, and those are allowed to stand.

I don't know if the system will notify them so they have an opportunity to re-word and re-submit their question. Anyway, now you know and I put all the details in the Feedback form . Rosie, do you know what I did wrong to cause this question to be downrated? I thought perhaps it was ok because both you and Mrs. Cleaver answered it and pointed me in the right direction. There were some others (I left links in comment up under Mrs. Cleaver.) I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but hope I can learn quickly so I can correct it! Thank you.

Oh my dear...you don't need to do anything "wrong". You can ask a very benign question and give a very benign answer and someone may still downrate you. Why? Because he/she can. When I first became active DR's used to bother me. I really wanted to know why someone found the question/answer offensive. I soon discovered that logic/reason is not the driver. You may get downrated because someone simply disagrees with you...or a friend of a friend doesn't like you...or just because.

I have learned to ignore DR's. I have never given one because I think to do so is quite silly. How can you give More/Less than nothing? Exactly. So I don't and when I receive them they are meaningless to me because I know that behind that silliness is wanton/random thoughtlessness. If you can learn to do that then you will be free from the burden of caring! Happy Sunday m'dear! :) ((hugs))

Never talk about DR's is my advice. The ones that DR feed on reaction. If you ignore it as it deserves they don't get the rush/thrill of being a pain in the a** and they will move on. The more you acknowledge, react or "talk back" the more you give them what they want..which is simply to annoy you. :)
