Even those it is presued as gothic, can 'The Raven' be some what compherting if it is read in the right tone?

i dont see as how it would be comforting. i guess it really matters on the person reading.

I can't see it as comforting. A man gets no solace and knows that he'll always be lonely because his love is gone forever. The bird gives him no comfort-- he asks questions, hoping for an answer that will comfort him, but the bird only leaves him with a feeling that his soul will never rise off the floor. It is the exact opposite of comfort.
