Someone intellectually superior will never portray himself as such, intellectual superiority shows, others can see and hear it therefore it is nonsense to rub it into others.

They are over compensating for the insecurities about their intelligence in most cases.

Wouldn't bother me unless, of course, I am intellectually inferior

Challenge them them to a battle of wit... If they win, they are smart, If they lose... rub it in their face!
