  • I think its a necessary evil. You have to have it, its too risky to not. I was in an accident a few months ago, and wrote the car off. Without insurance, the whole thing would have been 100 times worse.
  • An expensive necessity.
  • Very necessary , unloved by us all until some idiot smashes up your car.
  • Wish it wasn't more than the car payment... Florida sux...
  • It's a rip off. You need it legally in some places but as soon as you use it, the premiums go up. If you don't have any accidents then your payments get less. But then you need it for when some idiot talking on the cell phone bashes into you or something. They should make all cars out of foam rubber or something...
  • It may be a rip off to people who have a very cheap car and have extremly good luck, but put yourself in my situation. 1st- It is illegal in several states to not have car insurence on you vehcile, but it still isnt cheap 2nd- I am a pretty new driver, only 2 years of experience 3rd- I have an old car that I cant afford to replace. Finally- I want to have a life after a wreck If I would judge a situation wrong, and be hit or hit someone else, then I want to be able to go out and get a new car, pay medical bills and not be sued for THOUSANDS of dollars in damage. Now think about it, Is it worth the money to have a safty net if you get in a wreck?
  • It's illegal to drive without it, or at least it is where I live.
  • In my state (NH) auto insurance is not mandatory but if you don't have it then you can't legally drive into bordering states that DO require it (MA is one). I always have auto insurance and get good rates as I have no infractions for more than 5 years. I own a home and want to protect it so Liability is a must. Collision coverage is optional. If you can afford to lose your vehicle you can pass on collision but if your car has a high resale value or it's your only vehicle you should carry it. I only have collision on one vehicle (value @ $15,000) the other two only have Liability (value @ $5,000 each). I owe no money on any of them so there is no bank mandating insurance on any of them (generally required if you owe the bank money on a car).
  • I wish someone cared about my opinion. You pay and pay and pay for years and years, and then when you have an accident and you need it, they make you pay even more.
