Yes I will own in the next 5 years.
We own it. It is tiny and old and beat up, but we have been doing one major project a year for nearly ten years now and it is starting to be a home. We've done foundation repair and drainage. We've sistered all the floor joists. We've replaced the furnace and ductwork. We've torn down the leaking chimney and patched the hole left in the wall. We've re-drywalled almost every room and brought the wiring up to code. We've reinsulated every room. We've built bigger closets. We've pulled up carpet and refinished the hardwood underneath. We've made trim and replaced almost all the trim in the house. Now I'm building built-in shelves and wardrobes. We've got one really rickety addition that we need to partially demolish and rebuild. The roof is good but the foundation and floor are not. Once we've done that major structural work, we are going to turn that room into a bathroom with two toilets. There is no room in this house for two bathrooms and no way to lay it out for a powder room, but I can do one room with two toilets (in stalls). Once that is done, the old bathroom is getting torn out and made part of the kitchen so we can put the leaf in the table and we'll have a real home.
I own and I do my own remodeling on my spare time.
I own and am renovating as the money and time allows. +5
My father's father was a custom home builder. He built our home from the ground up, actually from the hole up, since we have a full basement. It was the most fun we've had choosing every little thing that went into our home. Selecting sinks, tubs and plumbing fixtures and wall paper/or paneling/or plaster. Selecting the ceiling and where the electrical outlets will be & how many of them. Everything that one doesn't think of that goes into a home. We even moved some walls to accommodate some large pieces of furniture. Now my niece wants the blue prints willed to her when I die. We've feel very fortunate that we know every person, electrician, plumber, mason etc. who build our home. Especially when one hears the horror stories of unknown builders and unsuspecting buyers. We are very blessed. Thanks dad.
I rent, currently. I doubt that I'll ever own a house. It's not that I'll never be able to afford it, I just don't really see the point.
We own our house, and we renovated the kitchen and bathrooms about four years ago. I would like to replace the enclosed patio with a real room, but we have too many other expenses.
We are having a safety fence put around the pool, because of the toddler grandchildren.
We had a barn/shed put in the back yard. Now I want a picket fence around the front yard, because both the dog and my grandson can open the side gate and get out of the side yard.
We own.
We have been renovating it for over a year. We should be done in another year.
We own our home but we plan on buying a different one when the economy gets better. Until then we have some repairs to make to get it ready.
I own the house I live in. It is right in the middle of my farm. I renovated the house when I bought the farm in 2003. I like this house very much.
The only trouble with owning a house is that we must do some maintanance work once every two years. I am in the middle of one such maintanace and painting sessions.
This part of owning a house is what I do not really like all that much. But for the comfortable living of next 2 years this part of the ownership responsibility must be taken seriously.
2 weeks of upset schedules for 2 years of comfortable living!
We own our house but it was just built.
there's a lot to be done but were getting there
we'll probably be there for the next 10 years
