Definitely "moot". Although many people seem to think "moot" means that the point is irrelevant or somehow non sequitur, it really means "debatable." Also, the pronunciations are different. "Mute" (meaning silent or silenced) is pronounced with the same vowel sound as in the word "feud", whereas "moot" is pronounced with the same vowel sound as in the word "food". moot : mute :: food : feud (in pronunciation)
