  • Question: I'm cat sitting for somebody while they're out of town. When I went over there this afternoon her niece was there with 3 friends. They had a huge part the night before at the house with more people where there was drinking and people getting drunk and throwing up, and they were still there cleaning up. I was told not to tell, but what should I do? I feel really bad. After they left I had to go around because there had been windows left open downstairs and the furniture was even rearranged. And the person of this house is very particular with the lighting, etc. but I have no idea which lights were on on off or anything. The problem is I used to be friends with the nice and she did clean up pretty well and washed her aunt's sheets and everything. It just upsets me that she would do this while her aunt is gone and if anything is messed up the aunt will think that it was me. Thanks for the advice!!
  • Tell the aunt, but be nice about it. Tell her that you walked in on them cleaning up, that there was no damage done, but she needs to change the locks and not give her niece a key.
  • It doesn't sound like your beholding to that niece so you really owe her zilch. Unless you feel like catching the flack for her own indiscretions I would tell them the truth and would in no way go out of my way to hide their problems for them. That's their problem, not yours. ;)
  • What would you want you to do if you were the aunt? Tell.
