The problem with your argument is that it's "no big deal." It's a horrible and devistating choice that one should only make in the most dire of circumstances. That's not "no big deal."

Well four things I would say: The first is that not all liberals feel that way. Some are anti-abortion. The second is that they don't necessarily think it is 'no big deal'. Just something which sometimes is the best course of action for the person concerned. Third - Liberalism is a political and/or economic stance, not an ethical or moral stance. So liberalism and the particular opinion you point to re. abortion are not synonymous with each other. In answer to your question - they don't all believe that the feotus is a human being. So whereas they may have compassion for humans and living things, many see the feotus as something different than a baby and so their feelings may differ. Also, for many the life of the person living is far more important than a life which has not yet come into the world.

The human mind can be two faced sometimes. For example mostly everyone likes to think they are good and have a heart of gold yet turn around and do evil, but still say they are pure of heart. Humans simply do not make sense most of the time, except when it comes to math and other school subjects. People will believe what they want to believe and if thats killing an innocent child before they can be born then they'd say so be it. And if they think they are still right after having done such evil then they will think so. People want to think they are good while still doing evil at the same time which in their twisted minds is really not the case. Hypocrit could be the term I'm thinking of. People always want to justify their wrong doings so they will think like you have stated in your question.

You have hit on the basic reason this debate has had such legs. The ProLife camp views the debate as saving the lives of unborn children. The ProChoice camp view the debate as one of women's rights. Since the two side are discussing two completely different things no argument no matter how compelling by either side is convincing to the other. To answer your question simply the "liberals" don't view a fetus the same way you do. If you believe life doesn't begin until the first breath of air is drawn then you are not killing a human. Do one thing for me. Please do your best to not buy into the view that the world is divided into two camps liberal and conservative. Do your own critical thinking on each topic. Don't allow others to think for you.
