  • I plug in my headphones.
  • most of the time, i get a little pissed & wait until they're done & steer the conversation back to whatever i wanted to talk about. i hate interrupting. but there are other time where i'll shout at them "I WANT TO TALK TOO!"
  • Try to switch off and nod my head when I think it is necessary!!
  • In a group I would chip in and direct a statement to a different particular person by name (i.e. what do you think about Obama Jerry?). If the person interjects then you have an undeniable reason for a gentle rebuke (Thanks, but I was asking Jerry.) Where it's just me and the other, I would stop attempting to speak and make sure I don't give any 'active listening' body language such as head nods/tilts but maintain solid eye contact. It doesn't take long for the person to run out of things to say. Next time it happens, repeat the procedure, and it seems to take less time for the person to run out of things to say, and so on.
  • sometimes you just have to butt right back in or give a little cough, look them in the eye and talk
  • Just tell them to shut up a minute!
