24, the year after we married. it was an apartment in a less desirable area, but it suited us because the area, like us, was multicultural. It was also a big three bedroomer. had we bought in a "better" area, we would not have had the room. (or the great experiences)

30 - Upstate NY. Beautiful dutch colonial with no insulation, old wiring, and so-so plumbing. Taxes were $289 per month on a $60K home (?!?!) - 24 years ago! Bough from 1300 miles away after one visit (not good to do). Needed to research better - but, hey, it was an adventure! We survived!! Art
