I remember "now and later" fruit candy. I loved that stuff! One of my old time favorites was "Bit o honey" I loved that almost as much as I love a 100,000 bar!

Oh yes. About a mile's walk from home, but right across from my elementary school there was a run-down old wooden-floored store called a Five-and-Dime store. They had big glass containers of penny candies.

Heaps. Gumboils, allday suckers, lolly pops, sherbet, jubes. Those were the days, you go into your local grocer shop, on the counter were great big jars of all sorts. You would say, three of them, one of those etc and all for about a penny.

Well us mature folk who were children in the 60's had penny candy too. lol

I'm not a child of the 1950's, but I do remember penny candy, because there is a penny candy store in the next town over.

I was born in 1937 so my penny candy-buying days were in the 40's. I used to love Jawbreakers because they lasted forever and ever. So I'd get jawbreakers and enjoy them as they slowly..ever so slowly, melted in my mouth. Happy Sunday! :)

In the 50's I was a kid and I'm trying to think of something. The only thing I can think of is it seems like I could buy a candy bar for 5-10 cents. Now, keep in mind that I was very young..lol..and my memory has failed me. Nice of you to use the word mature.:)
