  • As far as I know, there aren't any mystery chemicals floating around in our galaxy. The other seven planets circling the sun are composed of chemicals that are well-known to us and I don't think there's a reason to assume that any hidden planets in this galaxy would be much different. That said, if there is another planet that could produce complex life forms, its composition may not be like Earth's at all, leading to a different evolutionary lineage. They could be more anthropomorphic in a sense, or they can be so different that we wouldn't recognize them at all, and have characteristics that we've never even conceived of. As for that planet having the same chemical composition as our own...I don't know. But given the variety of atmospheres in the other eight planets, I'd say it's probably unlikely. I stress though that I am not an astronomer or biologist or any other kind of scientist, so I can't be sure.
