I have 3 bird feeders in my garden.
The hummingbirds were incredibly active this year.
I also make an occasional visit to local bird sanctuaries to view more uncommon birds than the ones in my garden. I happen to live close by two of the best flyways in North America.
I take part in the annual "Great Backyard Bird Count" in the U.S. each year.
In February I counted the following in a 30 minute period:
Checklist:
Mourning Dove - 4
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1
Downy Woodpecker - 2
Hairy Woodpecker - 1
Blue Jay - 2
American Crow - 2
Tufted Titmouse - 2
Dark-eyed Junco (Slate-colored) - 6
Northern Cardinal - 3
Common Grackle - 3
House Sparrow - 2
Oh! Very much! And I always make sure our birdbath is clean and filled with water at all times! The birds LOVE it!

Yeah I like to watch birds whenever they fly by or are near by. I especially like to watch birds that are not very common to see like eagles and hawks.

I like seeing the different breeds of birds; I am surprised some people are not interested but then each to their own.Actual bird watching varies in interest to me; it can get boring,depending.Herons are quite interesting to watch I think and when the birds court etc lol.

I have sen a lone cedar waxwing 2 summers in a row, in downeast coastal maine. Is it quite unusual for it to be without a flock?
