People beleive in god because there's a god. Logically who built earth or the planets or the universe. Who created us. The answer for them and many other questions is god. we are supposed to Beleive in god. And this doesn't mean that we are scared from life.
-
Some of us have actually encountered God and been changed by him. Some of us have actually experienced His hand on our lives. Some of us have studied science at a deeper level, and found that while it is a very good servant, it is a very bad master.

There are laws of nature that are truths. Like Gravity keeps us from falling off the planet. But no one has yet been able to explain what gravity is or how it works. For these laws to work there must have been some type of formula to put it together. We call this God, or the devine being. THink of it this way. Everything is carbon based in this universe, since it is a basic element. And it is said that God is in everything. Is it possible that GOD is really carbon? That carbon has its own level of intelligence we cannot yet understand? Something to think about......

It's not about fear. It's about Faith. And there is enough evidence for those who are not opposed to the idea. I find it interesting that some people seem to believe there must be physical proof of a spiritual being. That makes no sense to me.

i'm not afraid of being alone.. lack of hope scares me. God gives me hope, so I have faith in Him.

I'm sure that fear is a motivating factor for many people. But not all. It's definitely not for me. My belief in what many call "God" is based on a sense of joy and gratitude and wonder at life and the universe. I realized at a fairly early age that although I believe in this entity, it wouldn't matter one whit if I were to learn for certain that it did not exist. It wouldn't change my personal sense of ethics, morals or sense of responsibility that I have for the rest of humanity and creation. I also don't profess to know exactly *what* God is or exactly what it wants (if anything) or if it is ultimately involved in our day-to-day lives (I doubt it, although I think that there are "forces" or "energies" connected to it that may). I can't articulate, really, or rationalize exactly *why* I believe in what I do, other than to say that it adds a dimension to my psycho-spiritual life that I find creative and positive. Call it my spiritual "Art" if you will. ;) I realize that my beliefs are not particularly common among people you might encounter in the spiritual arena. But there are many who feel the same way. And many involved in the practical application of such ideas. It's difficult to explain where I'm coming from if you don't have a background in some of the disciplines and practices that I've experienced. I hope this makes sense of some sort. ;)

I believe it's 'fear, insecurity, loneliness, brainwashed, illness, these are just a few reasons why people believe in God. To believe in someone who has NEVER been seen is insane to me...
-
See there Mr nice guy it doesn't matter what you think.

Your question attempts to answer itself. But, I can basically invalidate your answer at least in my case. I have a wife, 3 children, and a family who loves me very much. I choose to follow God because it is the right thing to do. Because, as my creator, he deserves it. Fear, loneliness - these things have nothing to do with it. I also choose to follow him because I know he is a just God, and a God of love. Because I know he will one day very soon wipe away all the bad things happening in this world, and that those who chose to give him the respect he deserves will live in peace and harmony after that day comes.
-
that's one reason, but others genuinuely believe. some people have had strong religious/spiritual experiences as well. there are probably as many reasons that people believe in God as there are believers.
-
You are right, now go tell that to the muslims

Given the history of our cynical humankind, a God could not have been invented without some basis of evidence and that of continued evidence, however distorted, diverse and embroidered it may have become over the centuries. Faith is regarded as one of the many gifts from God and many people do really have a tangible experience of God in their lives - a 'Road to Damascus' moment, or a real strong feeling for a vocation or duty. I can't say I've experienced God as such, but I do know for a fact, I have an angel, as there are far too many 'wishes/prayers' that have come true on a regular basis, far too many to be just coincidence. Try talking to your angel - start with simple things like asking to find you a parking space - don't be greedy and always be patient

one of the blessing issues of God believing is feeling of safety as a peace with self
