How do you interpret the statement, "I wish I could give you more points, but I've run out." posted in some comments sections?

I interpret it as: "I think you wrote a good answer that is worthy of points. The reason I am not rating you up is because I am limited by Answerbag's rating system."

Apart from the obvious meaning, I also read between the lines and see "The quality-control filter in my brain doesn't work and I rate up pretty much any answer regardless of its quality"... personally I have only once run out of points for someone during a busy day in the 'sports' section, and I don't consider myself to be unduly stingy in awarding points, so I am always baffled how some people manage to run out of points for everyone. It is just another way in which points are getting devalued I guess.

I take it that that person has been kind enough to have rated me to their quota and the fact that they bother to make a comment is nice and quite adequate. I am grateful that they have bothered to read my answer and let me know what they thought .

Your answer was fantastic, but I can't give you the amount of points you deserve as I have either used them all, or am only "worth" a small amount...
