Since there are so many pet dogs, they will rise to dominance since they have been trained by man for such a long period of time. They will revert to their wolfish tendancies and all the foo foo dogs will become chow for the hounds. Viva la révolution.

Cockroaches. Have you tried to kill one of those damn things?

Scorpions, rats and cockroaches are exceptionally resilient animals, so would probably survive our demise, even if we destroyed ourselves in a nuclear war. However, unless the oxygen levels in the atmosphere drastically increase, scorpions and cockroaches would be unlikely to achieve an adequate size to become dominant species. Rats may well achieve an appropriate size over time. My bet would be on the crocodilians, large members of these species have existed in the relatively recent past, and most are already quite sizeable creatures as it is.
