Mr. Shiny Shoes, you're talking about the generations who didn't learn they have to work hard before getting the reward. They learned only instant gratification and that's why they want every now...right now, dammit; LOL!

There is a big difference, between being a kid in the 1930s, and being one in the 1950s, or the 1970s.

I think that our elders, at least here in america, wanted things in a hurry and now we suffer to compensate for poor planning... but boy did they have it good for a while.

i am a young person in these days, and i think instant gratification is so rampant because as technology progresses, it makes our lives easier (and sans hard work/patience). in recent times, especially with the advent of the computer, communication has become much more efficient, and working long and hard for something back in the day just isn't the same now.

I think in every generation there are young people who find out sooner or later that it almost always does require hard work and patience. And that's a rude awakening unless they truly love what they do (or are going to do).

At the beginning of the Paleolithic (Old Stone)Age, our ancestors had the intelligence that made them capable of controlling fire. However, archeologists discovered that it took our ancestors more than a million years before they actually practiced the ability to control fire. The more intelligent we become, the less fear and uncertainty we have and the shorter time it takes for something to be invented. Today, a new idea can be turned into a working prototype in a few weeks. At some point in the future, a product will make it from conception to operation in someone's home in one day! Not only that but robotics and artificial intelligence of the future will be able to takeover all the mundane jobs, leaving humans with nothing to do but demand everything now. We are evolving... ...and we can't blame the young people for wanting things in a hurry because it is us older people that taught them that as we marveled over new and instant processes. Shows you how clever we thought we were.
