Frankly, I'm a fan of music that goes over the edge. Not because of the particular talent or issue, but because it get's people thinking and worked up. People somehow feel a boundary is crossed, and some of those people end up questioning why the boundary is even there in the first place. GG Allin is my favorite shock musician of all time. He is the embodiment of punk. Complete rejection of society, culture, politics, and the law. If you wanted to see him on tour, you'd have to get tickets for the first or second show because he would get locked up after them without fail. Being completely naked, breaking bottles on on stage and cutting himself with them, spewing/throwing/ejecting various bodily fluids (and excrement, of course) all over the stage and crowd, and various other things. Was common for him to grab anyone within reach during public appearances and start beating the shit out of them, and then have his ass beat by fans in response. I'm pretty sure he also had a girlfriend that was only 16 (was on a talkshow with her, check youtube). He died of a heroin overdose and the funeral was ridiculous. He was buried in a leather jockstrap to start, and people were coming up and either defiling him or trying to perform sexual acts on/with his corpse. Some saw him as an insane monster of a person. I see him as the logical result of the repressed frustrations that we all experience in everyday life. He did what we wish we would or could do. Cop putting a ticket on your car? Punch him in the face. Annoying loud airhead chick blabbing about her relationships? Smash her face repeatedly into the wall. Dress code for a restaurant? Show up naked. He would do all of these things without hesitation. There is a documentary about him that is pretty good, I forget the name but it would be pretty easy to find on google. Oh yeh, his music was horrid garbage, but that isn't the point. Everything he did, he made sure he broke a rule doing it. That's punk.
