I have both and I take them down three times a year and spray them with the hose

I have Venetian blinds in the windows of three of the bedrooms in my house the others have curtains. The Venetian blinds I take down once a month and soak them in a bath of cleaner, it's the best way I've found to keep them clean, otherwise they collect heaps of dust..
