I say bull. You can make up 4 years of high school on a 3 hour test?No way. That being said at least its something. Having neither a high school diploma or a GED you may not even be able to get hired at Walmart!

It is the same ends. Both prove you posess the knowledge needed to perform your job. The thing that will haunt you is the fact that you dropped out of school to begin with. That proves to them (irrationally I think) that you are a quitter and will not finish what you start. I am a drop-out that had no choice due to a parent's health problems. Someone had to pay the bills. Why should I be punished for doing what is morally right?

I think it depends on what you are comparing. The GED is relatively good at being equivalent to applied courses. These are the more basic knowledge courses, hands on and used in the skilled trades. I don't find the GED is a great way to prove most academic skills required for University or harder College courses. It proves you could have passed high school, but doesn't demonstrate that you may have been able to pass in the hard courses that would let you into good post-secondary school.
