AT my HS, you could also refund the cost of the book and have the obligation taken care of that way. A better option though, would be to find this person and get your book back.

Speak to the school officals...politely, logically and with as little raving emotion as possible. It would seem to me that the person who issued the modestly expensive textbook to the person misrepresenting himself as you, while not requiring identification from him, is the one most responsible for the loss. If unsuccessful insofar as that postion, you may have to pay for the textbook, assuming the school will then allow you to participate in the full graduation ceremoney. I know that may not seem fair to you, but that's the best I can recommend. Accept it as one of life's unfortunate lessons learned. There will be others. Good luck. +5
