i usually rate it down if its offensive. I dont rate it down if it's just a different view than me. like if they say, i dont believe in christianity, i dont rate them down. but if they say something like.. i dont believe in christianity because it's stupid and dumb and everybody who believes in it is crap.. yeaa then i rate it down i also dont rate it down for spelling or grammer :)

I downrated VERY early on in my AB career, and haven't downrated once since. I figure 2 things. 1) If I wish to downrate an answer, I can simply UPrate all the others, and leave it alone. 2) If I find something that seriously needs "downrating", it's normally flaggable, which is my preferred method. ;-)

I rarely downrate an answer, But usually if the answer isn't an answer. In other words its a silly comment.

If its an answer that was better left unsaid. An answer that wasnt even an opinion, or for guidance...but an answer that was just derogatorive, downgrading...stupid, or unneeded.

Only 1 reason, and that is if the answer is wrong. Not 'I do/don't believe in abortion' wrong, more like 'The sky is yellow' wrong.

When they type lyke di5. Or if it's in all caps. Or bothh. OR if it's mean, spiteful, has nothing to do with the question, or something along those lines.

I don't down rate - I will comment if I think it is harmful advice, I will comment if I think the answer is wrong, or I may flag it too.

I personally do not down-rate. I will on occasion refuse to rate for many reasons but to me zero ratings is unhelpful enough. I would not hesitate to flag anything that is in violation of the terms of service. I always uprate the best answers to help them climb to the top.

I've noticed most answers to religious questions get downrated. I don't do it personally, but I'd say the most common reason is disagreement in unprovable beliefs. Sad.

I don't. The only downrating I've ever done, was by accidently hitting the wrong button, which I immediatly rectified.
