Help answer this question below.
A neighbour trying to get "familiar" with my wife,as she said,"God I'm 64 and he's only 47, he ought to get a life". We say kibosh over here...
Someone that was taking advantage of my good nature, by repeatedly wanting me to drop everything and run to fix her broken computer or whatever, at my own expense and for free. I had to tell her to start taking her stuff back to where she bought it. I don't think she liked that.
Supper last night...Just could not finish it.
Her face, but she asked for it.
Last thing for me was being around negative people. I kaboshed it and now I am happy all the day long.:):)
I put the "kabosh" on my grandkids playing on the trampoline after my grandaughter broke her wrist while on it. It was the BIG kabosh!
The grill.
The milkman staying over the weekend.
My son's pulling the trampoline close to the garage roof, climbing up on the roof and then jumping off!!! That was a BIG No No. I smacked the kabosh on that one.
I think it is spelled kibosh, and they have not found it's original source.I would think it sounds like a word that came from the native Americans,or possibly Russian.I put a quick kibosh on smoking colts(mini cigars).I have never smoked as a habit and started smoking one a day for about 1 month. Then I just quit and do not go near them.
Have you ever heard of God being refered to as the "big cheese"?

You know I think you might be correct about the spelling ... I saw it both ways, but I think Kibosh is right.
I can imagine you'd want to put a STOP to your neighbor's plans!!! Wow.
Thanks!! +6

He was most embarrased when I had him about it...full of apologies. We still speak, but theres an air...if you know what I mean.....thats life.I have a feeling the word "kibosh" is Jewish, isnt it.

Not sure of the origin of the word ... but you could be correct on that too.
