It was marked by two columns with a world globe on top, upon which was written the words "Khattulistiwa| (Equator). It was in the middle of the jungle.

Since 1 degree at the equator is a little over 111 kilometers, and the next nearest cities lie 1 degree or more away, these ones listed are "closest" to directly on.
