Is there any translation of the Qur'an which uses the word "God" (or whichever translation of "Allah" in that language) instead of the transcription of the Arabic word "Allah". And if not, why not?

"Allah" IS God, translated...It is a title, not a NAME.

ALLAH is the true name of the CREATOR, God of all the prophets. All prophets used to call GOD "Allah".

ALLAH (Alaha, EL Lah) is the highest name of God of Abraham in Aramaic and Hebrew which the Messiah Son of man used and when translated from Hebrew to English it is written as EL Lah which stands for LIVING GOD in Hebrew or to be more precise, THE ETERNALLY LIVING One, that alone encompasses all Godly attributes. Now the name can differ in writing but when correctly pronounced it is the SOUND which matters.

"O God" = "YA ALAAH" (in aramaic: the mother tongue language of Jesus)

Check it here in this Christian website (hear it with your own ears) http://www.learnassyrian.com/aramaic/church/church.html

    ALAAHAA (in aramaic) = God

Also, check this Jewish website (hear it with your own ears) stating that Allah is name of God
    http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Names_of_G-d/Elah/elah.html

The original name in the Bible for GOD is not "Yahweh". It is "Allah". See the proofs from Jewish and Christian sources here: http://www.answering-christianity.com/allah1.htm

Want to hear with your own ears again?

Try verse Deuteronomy10:17 God your Lord is the Eternally Living God (ALLAH) of Gods (the Ultimate Supreme being) and the highest possible Authority. He is the great, mighty and awesome God, who does not give special consideration or take bribes.

Finally, this is a clip from the "Passion of the Christ" movie, watch and hear then you can answer this: Did Jesus say " ALLAH" ? (see for yourself) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAQ_9LnUqik

I agree with you in regards to ENglish translations of the Bible using God, not god. From the perspective of a natural English speaker who has studied Arabic since childhood, I think that certain words and phrases dont translate well into English. As a result we're left to differentiate the Creator of the Heavens and Earth from Pharoah with a capital "G".

Ive never come across a Quran like that howeve the Arabic word for god isnt Allah it is Ilah. The word "Ilah" is any god aside from "The God" who calls himself Allah in the Quran. A more suitable translation of Allah would be "The God" but theres no translation because its a name. As a result, translations of The Quran use the English transliteration "Allah" becuase the Quran says "Allah" in Arabic and not "Ilah".
