I don't see why not. Of course, the KKK is still around and has it's own website, you have numerous supremacist organisations operating in your country and the current president is a Texan. I think you're ready, but it'll be a big struggle and Obama may not come out of it alive.
-
I think that race really does not matter for the presidential elections. Sure, there will be the hicks who are like "F NO!" but if an African American is elected, I have no doubt that it will be no different than if an Anglo or Hispanic was elected.
-
I think the US is ready for a GOOD President, race or gender shouldn't be an issue.
-
Sadly enough, I think that there are MANY people in the US who aren't ready for a black president- but I don't think those people will EVER be ready for a black president. I think that the country is in need of ANY president who has the ability to work for the greater good of ALL of this countries citizens. A black person is just as capable (if not slightly more, due to the fact that they have probably experienced injustice) to do that.
-
I don't know about the country but I would vote for someone who is black. It wouldn't even be an issue.
-
I think it's sad that it's still about him being black. I think it's about friggen time, and I would vote for Obama in a heartbeat if he just agreed with me about abortion. Sorry, but that one makes or breaks it for me.
-
I don't think that the US is ready. Sure, I'm ready and wouldn't mind. But some people are just so racist; there's more than you would like to imagine. Plus, it only takes one person....
-
I am Australian and I don't see why color should matter? It's the person that makes the difference ... Although I don't believe from what I have seen or heard on the news that Barack Obama should be the one ...
-
ready or not,one is on the way.
-
If people honestly vote agaist a president because his skin color (which there will be),then it shows how either A. how far we are falling or B. how nothing has changed.
-
I am totally ready. I was hoping for a women black president - but the man type is an improvement at least. Clinton was close. But Obama will still be cool until impeached for smoking with the dallas cheerleaders. I'm ok with it - that is the american dream afterall.
-
What has colour got to do with it? I would think you would want the person most qualified for the job, be they black, white, pink or purple. If they are there only to validate some other issue that is wrong. It really needs to be someone who can actually lead a country.
-
TOTALLY

Is the US ready for its first female president... is this something we can be "ready" for?
-
i think america is ready for a president who is either not white, male or republican or any combination but i do not believe that our next president will be a white, male, republican.
-
Sadly,The majority of the US still won't accept it! But I believe we are ready for any GREAT president, regardless of race or gender!
-
I find it Ironic that America brag's about being of mixed culture and how tolerant we are, when all of our presidents have been: A) All male B) All white We need to 'show'that we are a tolerant people and start practicing what we preach. Oh,the answer is YES.
-
I think we are ready for a black president or a woman, I just don't think that Hillary is the right woman. There is just something about that woman that I don't trust. I think she is as crooked as they come.
-
I think the mere fact that we ask ourselves this question answers it.
-
I would have to say yes and no. First of all the color of your skin does not distinguish who you are as a person. Racist and biased people only contribute to conflict and lack of interest in the overall picture. We are all created equal in the eyes of god whomever that may be for you and no one person is better than the other. Circustances do not shape who we are it is the outcome and what we learn from it that shapes us as a person. the only people or citizens that would stand in the way of such a thing would be those who are not open for change and or have been raised or exposed to such thinking.
-
Why is race even an issue? I thought it was about who is the best leader.
-
We're long over due for a smart one.
-
Apparently not. But, we seem to be ready for a female one.
-
As american idle said.. if a black man is the man for the job, then by all logical means wed be stupid to go with someone else.. if a woman is the woman for the job likewise.. Sadly though I do believe it may start a controversy that may go down in history..
-
Sure. Why not?
-
Anything but Hillary.
-
anything democratic.
-
As long as it's not Michael Vick! J/K! Anyone who is qualified, it doesn't matter if they are black, red, purple, female, whatever. If they have a plan and can implement it, I say go for it!
-
i don't know about America, but i sure am not. i do know our four fathers are rolling over in their graves right about now.
