I wouldnt but its your underwear not mine. The farthest ill go is tighty whities and there supportive/tight enough, I cant immagine the string in ur butt being very comfortable but my gf says you dont notice it after your used to wearing them.

Buy the right ones/size and they are as you say, extremely supportive and comfortable. Ignore the silly remarks you may get as answers... Don't knock it until you have tried it! I find a thong more comfortable than bikini (tighty whitey) style, although I mainly wear boxer briefs day to day. My wife loves me in a thong... makes her very excited!
