too big as you can always stuff the toe or get a heel pad to take up some of the slack...too small hurts like hell and can give you corns/hot spots/ingrown toenails..all the crap we want to avoid!

If you are a clown you don't have that choice as their shoes only come in bigger sizes regardless of how small their feet are, have you noticed that? Possible conspiracy against clowns? I don't think it's a coincidence. A half size too big would be my own choice.
