  • Japan is an island, they're completely surrounded by water so it makes sense that there would be alot of fishing. Most of the agricultural land is used for rice or animals, but with their crowded population, space for these farms is limited. Fish are plentiful and easy for them to find, cook, and sell.
  • They are not "obsessed" with eating fish. They live on an island. and have historically had bad relations with the closest countries. Becoming a society largely dependant on seafood made sense. Of course they eat other things. Have you never heard of a Japanese steakhouse? They make some of the finest beef in the world (kobe)
  • Why are Americans so obsessed with eating burgers, don't they eat anything else? Of course Japanese eat other things, and the don't eat fish all they time. They are just famous for their liking of fish, as Americans are for their liking of steak and burgers. It is just a speciality of theirs.
  • Fish is abundant in Japan, and so has become a part of their culture.
