  • That is not evolution that is cross breeding of bears. The offspring is still a bear. Now if the bears get together and produce a dog. Let me know.
  • The Grolar Bear is a hybrid between two separate bear species, Grizzly Bears and Polar Bears. The hybrid is still relatively rare, but has occurred in the wild and in captivity. It is likely to become more common as melting of the polar ice cap forces polar bears southward into grizzly habitat in their hunt for food. I would be willing to bet that most creationists try not to think about such things, and are a massive success at doing so.
  • Well since it is the possible inception of a new species and I can't really see god sneaking down to just create another one off for a laugh, then I would presume they will do what they always do when confronted with evidence. Ignore it and continue ranting about irreducible complexity and the second law of thermodynamics and other such guff.
  • Actually, I tend to think that hybrid animals like this are evidence that what we're dealing with are really just breeds rather than distinct species. This does suggest that the two breeds came from a common ancestor, but since each of the breeds has demonstrably less genetic diversity than the common ancestor, this is not an example of macro-evolution. No new genetic information exists in the breed lines that did not exist in the common ancestor. If anything, this seems to be an example of macro-devolution...the loss of genetic diversity in a the various breed-lines.
