I took a Bible class once and I liked the definition of faith we had in one of our study books. -Faith means trusting in, clinging to, or embracing Jesus Christ, who is the object of our faith. -The evidences of a true believer are: FAITH that works, LOVE that labors, and HOPE that endures. (from 1 Thessalonians 1:3-4)
-
The overwhelming and unquestioned belief in the existence of something abstract.

Believing in that which you know ain't true.

Just believing that God is in control of EVERYTHING, and EVERY situation. For instance....if you lose your job. Faith is knowing that God will take care of you and give you another job, or at least a way to survive. Or someone does something horrible to you that hurts you. You want revenge! But faith is not doing ANYTHING about it, knowing that God is in control, and that their sin will either be forgiven, if they ask, or God will judge them on Judgement Day.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see - Hebrews 11:1.
