Help answer this question below.

The disc tray on our Xbox won't open. How can I fix this?

    It's quite likely the belt which drives the tray is stretched, as was mine in my Samsung drive. Just open the drive, locate the tray motor and remove the small white pulley. Replace it with a slightly larger one from an old cd-rom drive and it should work like new again.

    I took the belt out and clean it, lube the gears with oil and all is well. I think replacing the belt may work, as I noticed my was a little loose, so i am looking into finding a replacement belt just in case I run into the problem again. Does anyone know where to find them.

    same thing happened to me and this is my freinds xbox. it kinda wouldnt close sometimes when we opened iot so we had to push it in. i tried using a paper clip to open it and it wont open and now i cant play halo :(

    THERE IS A SMALL PIN HOLE UNDER THE DISC DROOR PUSH IN WITH NEEDLE OR PIN much simular to a lock on some indoor home bathroom or bedroom doors,, YOU PUSH THE PIN HOLE UNDER THE DISC DROOR AT THE SAME TIME PUSHING THE MAIN BUTTON TO OPEN AND IT SHOULD OPEN NO PROBLEM THIS HAS HAPPEND A FEW TIMES TO OUR MODIFIED XBOX ALSO ON 360S

    There is a small surface mount chip ( Location U16) on the control board , under the disc mechanism that has possibly failed. Come across two now with the same problem, all voltages trace back to that one chip being defunked!

    I found the solution to fix this on Youtube. To get the door open, turn on the system, push the eject button and at the same time rub in a downward motion on the cd door. This will force the door to open on it's own. Then unplug the console with the door in the open position, use tweezers and a toothpick to carefully remove the black belt from the two main pulleys located just inside the cd door opening.

    Once you have removed it, clean it with simple liquid bathroom soap and make sure it dries completely. Then use alcohol and a cotton swab to clean the pulleys. After you have cleaned the pulleys, use the tweezers to replace the black drive belt carefully. (You may want to use the toothpick as well to help guide it in.)

    This should take care of your door problems and most people found that it worked for them as well. I was ready to send mine in for the $100 repair, I'm glad I tried this first. My system works just perfect now after doing this simple fix. - Good Luck.

    I bought another drive took the top board out put it in mine. Now to open it take paper clip push in front small square hole till door releases.

    i just strted going back on my xbox on modern warfare 2 and 1 day i got back and wanted to go on my xbox and it work and thhen i turned it off and i turned it back on it wouldnt open so mw2 is stuck in it if any 1 nows how to fix it send a meessage back please

    There is a small hole under the disk tray that lets you manually open it with a paperclip or something small like that
